The third edition of the ‘Nutrition Olympiad’ is all set to be held in the city tomorrow (Saturday), with the motto, “promote healthy diets and nutrition among the youths through innovative activities”.
On the sidelines of the event of the Nutrition Week, the day-long ‘Nutrition Olympiad’ will be held at Bangabandhu International Convention Centre (BICC) with the focus on youths.
Organisers came up with the information at a press conference at the National Press Club in the city on Thursday.
Bangladesh Institute of ICT in Development (BIID) Chairman and CEO Md Shahid Uddin Akbar detailed the event at the press briefing.
Agriculture Minister Abdur Razzak and Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder will address the inaugural session as the chief guest and special guests respectively.
United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) representative in Bangladesh Robert D Simpson will be present as the guest of honour.
The event will be financially supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and European Union (EU).
Driven by the vision to engage youths and adolescents to spearhead the United Nation’s Zero Hunger Challenge initiative, the Nutrition Olympiad 2019 will be held under the Nutrition Challenge’ (MUCH) Project, implemented by the FAO in collaboration with the Food Planning and Monitoring Unit (FPMU), Ministry of Food, and the BIID Foundation.
This year’s Olympiad will encourage persons with disabilities and ensure inclusive participation in different activities.
