The Planning Ministry is likely to cancel the Tk2.25 trillion Annual Development Programme (ADP) for the fiscal year of 2021-22 stating that they have not seen progress on those projects.
The Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED) has asked project executing agencies and line ministry about details regarding the projects’ about progress, difficulties, remedies, and the particulars of project directors.
The project titled “Upgradation of Akhaura-Sylhet section into dual-gauge from the metre-gauge line” has not been implemented by the Bangladesh Railway (BR) worth Tk215.54 billion with financial support coming from China where officials stated zero physical progress.
The project’s tenure of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) funded “BR’s Rolling Stock Operation” project worth Tk36.02 billion which started back in July 2017.
The “Integrated capacity improvement in Bangladesh’s power transmission system” project could be started by the Power Division more than 2 years from now.
The Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) has also failed to implement “Modernization of city street light systems in different areas under Chittagong City Corporation (CCC)” under Local Government Division, an Indian government project worth Tk2.61 billion.
IMED has also not seen any progress in “Rehabilitation of Charbagadi pump-house and Hajimara regulator under the Chandpur irrigation” project worth Tk1.17 billion.
