Due to unfavorable weather, agriculturists fear that this season’s aman paddy harvest in the southern region may fall short of expectations.
The Ministry of Agriculture has set a goal of obtaining approximately 15 lakh tonnes of aman rice from roughly 7 lakh hectares in the southern region during the current Kharif-2 season. However, a shortage of monsoon rains caused a disruption in the aman paddy seedbed output.
Aman cultivation has not yet been finished on more than 16 percent of the area in the southern region, even though the planting period is over, including in Barguna, according to DAE.
