For expanding Bangladeshi ICT Sector Business in Canada and to attract Canadian Investors a memorandum of understanding has been signed between BASIS and Canada Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CanCham Bangladesh) on Thursday.
BASIS President Syed Almas Kabir and CanCham Bangladesh President Masudur Rahman signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organization. At the MoU signing program, Benoit Préfontaine, High Commissioner of Canada in Bangladesh was present as Chief Guest.
After the MoU signing ceremony, the High Commissioner of Canada to Bangladesh said, Bangladesh exports to Canada have grown by 37% in the last five years. It is about to reach $3.0 billion by 2021.
BASIS has been working closely with the government towards achieving the Digital Bangladesh Vision Vision 2021′ and to achieve the target of earning US $ 5.0 billion by 2024 from ICT sector. More than 60% of the export earnings from Software and IT enabled services of Bangladesh are coming from Canada and North America mainly USA.
CanCham, BASIS and Information Technology Association of Canada (ITAC) will work closely in this regard.
