Digital Sylhet City Project initiated by Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) turned Sylhet into a smart city. To implement the project, a memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed between Bangladesh Computer Council and Sylhet Metropolitan Police. In the MoU signing ceremony, Zunaid Ahmed Palak was present as the chief guest.
Under the project, Face Recognition and Automatic Number plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras are being installed in Sylhet City Corporation areas.
Free Wi-Fi zone will also be set up very soon under the project at 62 locations in the metropolitan city with a total of 126 access points.
There is a set up for a monitoring room which has been established at Kotowali Model Police Station in the city to control these special IP cameras and Sylhet Metropolitan Police will be in charge of controlling the latest security system. This robust technology will help police to identify suspected persons and vehicles.
Huawei Technologies is the main solution provider in this project, who is applying special and artificial intelligence features to establish the smart city project.
