Decision has been made by Prime Bank and Mutual Trust Bank to suspend card transactions with 10 e-commerce companies, including Evaly.
AYM Mostafa, the Chief Technology Officer of Prime Bank, stated that card transactions with Evaly and Alesha Mart were suspended on June 25.
He stated that the other companies would come under the restriction by the night of June 25
The rest of the sites are Dhamaka Shopping, Eorange, Siranganj Shop, Aladiner Prodip, Qcoom, BoomBoom Shopping, Adyan Mart, and Needs.
Earlier, Brac Bank, Bank Asia, and Dhaka Bank imposed the same restriction.
The managing director of the Mutual Trust Bank, Syed Mahbubur Rahman stated that they enforced the restriction to protect the interests of the customers.
He stated that whether the restriction would be lifted would depend on the bank’s own strategy if the e-commerce companies follow the commerce ministry’s policy on such sites.
He added that the transactions will resume only if a bank regains confidence.
Customers of United Commercial Bank and City have already been advised by the banks to be careful in their dealings with e-commerce sites but have not stopped transactions.
So, the clients of these three banks will not be able to purchase any products from the 10 e-commerce platforms by using either debit or credit cards.
