The minister of the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges (RTHD) last Sunday said in the first week of November the carpeting work on the main structures of Padma Bridge will start. The minister made the statement in a ceremony handing lease deeds for the allocation of plots for those affected by Padma Multipurpose Bridge Project at rehabilitation sites where out of 823 lease deeds, 20 were handed over.
The minister further stated that the Padma Bridge will be open for vehicles by June 2022 where around 95 per cent of work of the main structure of the bridge has been completed. The work on river training has been completed at 85.25 per cent. The overall progress is at 88 per cent.
About 7 rehabilitation sites have been constructed at the end of Padma Bridge where about 2,963 plots have been allocated out of the total 3,011 plots. Among them about 814 land has been allocated free of cost. As for the commercial plots, out of total 100 about 81 plots have been allocated and out of 120 commercial spaces about 72 spaces have been allocated.
