According to the Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation, despite the fact that the salt harvesting season has yet to conclude, crude salt production reached 18.30 lakh tonnes this year (BSCIC).
Due to the favorable environment, salt production reached a 61-year record this fiscal year, allowing farmers to benefit more amid high market prices.
According to the BSCIC chairman, the country’s annual demand for salt is around 23.35 lakh tonnes. Along with Cox’s Bazar, salt is currently produced at Maheshkhali, Kutubdia, Teknaf, Pekua, and Chakaria upazilas.
