AHM Mustafa Kamal, Finance Minister, has stated that a decision on raising petroleum prices will be made soon.
“You will be informed whenever a decision is made,” he told reporters after virtually briefing them on the outcomes of the Cabinet Committees on Economic Affairs (CCEA) and Government Purchase (CCGP) meetings on Wednesday. He did not respond to the fact that the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) has profited approximately Tk50,000 crore since 2015. The budget implementation will begin next month, and then you will see the effects, he said, adding that the budget includes many provisions for the stock market. The finance minister admitted that a significant amount of foreign exchange is being expelled from the country as a result of the employment of a large number of foreign nationals in Bangladesh.
Kamal defended the government’s recent amnesty for money launderers and black money whitening steps, claiming that money becomes black due to the government’s flawed system.
