The country’s denim textile and apparel manufacturers, who primarily create low-value items at the moment, are now pursuing higher technologies in an effort to improve the quality and value addition of their products.
The exporters hope to dominate the global high-value denim market with the newest technology, which is also expected to lower production costs by at least 30%. With the Spanish business Jeanologia, the first LEED platinum-certified denim production in the world recently inked a knowledge transfer and collaboration agreement, as part of which Envoy will establish a cutting-edge laboratory.
According to the corporate statement, the environmentally friendly lab facility will cost Envoy Textiles 270,000 euros (about Tk2.62 crore) every year. Industry insiders claimed that new technology enables them to produce sophisticated washes while using less water and chemicals overall, making denim products more environmentally friendly.
