On Tuesday, Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HISA) inaugurated its newly installed e-gates, with the goal of speeding up the facility’s current immigration process for passengers.
“There are a total of 12 e-gates in the airport’s departure area, and three in the arrival area. On Sundays and Mondays, the gate was used experimentally. It demonstrates that a passenger can complete his immigration process in as little as 18 seconds “Captain Kamrul Islam, Executive Director of HISA. Officials also stated that with the implementation, Bangladesh has become the first country in South Asia to implement e-gate at their airport.
Despite being inaugurated by Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal in June last year, the e-gates set up by the Department of Immigration and Passports for both inbound and outbound passengers at the airport could not begin operating in the last 11 months.
