The project to construct Eastern Refinery Unit-2 has not been implemented in 11 years. The purpose of the project was to increase Bangladesh’s petroleum refining capacity by 3 million metric ton. Currently, it has a capacity of 4.5 million metric ton.
Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) was in charge of the project.
Currently, BPC is reviewing a technical offer of Technip to create a Front End Engineering Design (FEED) with a cost of Tk371.81 Crore. The contract for the proposal was signed in January, 2017.
