The project to construct Eastern Refinery Unit-2 has not been implemented in 11 years. The purpose of the project was to increase Bangladesh’s petroleum refining capacity by 3 million metric ton. Currently, it has a capacity of 4.5 million metric ton.
Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) was in charge of the project.
Currently, BPC is reviewing a technical offer of Technip to create a Front End Engineering Design (FEED) with a cost of Tk371.81 Crore. The contract for the proposal was signed in January, 2017.
BPC also received clearance from the Department of Environment (DoE) after the completion of BPC’s Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).
