A total of six projects totaling Tk2,504.75 crore were approved on Tuesday by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC). Three of the six projects that were approved are new, and the remaining three projects have been revised. The government would contribute Tk1,628.13 crore of the project’s overall cost, while Tk876.62 crore will be provided as project support. The projects that have been accepted include two projects for the Road Transport and Highways Division, one for the Shipping Ministry, one for the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, one for the Ministry of Industries, and another for the Ministry of Agriculture.
The “Proper Upgradation of Sonapur – Kabirhat – Companiganj (Basurhat) – Dagonbhuiya Regional Highway (R-148)” project, with a cost of Tk457.02 crore, would be carried out by the Road Transport and Highways Division by June 2025. By June 2027, Tk745.33 crore would be spent on another project titled “Construction of Chunkuri Bridge over Chunkuri River at 28th km of Gallamari – Batiaghata – Dakop – Nalyan Forest Road (Z-7606).”
The other projects approved are the “Establishment of Ashuganj Inland Container River Port” project (first revision) with Tk458 crore, “Construction of road along Karnaphuli River from Kalurghat Bridge to Chaktai Canal” project (second revision) with Tk469.15 crore, “BSCIC Printing Industrial City” project (first revision) with Tk125.85 crore and “Irrigation Extension Project through Conservation of Canal Water in Barendra Area-2nd Phase” project with Tk249.40 crore.
