On Tuesday, Team Europe Initiative on Green Energy Transition (TEI GET), a joint collaboration of European countries and financial institutions promoting energy efficiency measures, visited three renewable energy projects in Savar.
The visit was attended by Germany and the European Union (EU), as co-chairs of the TEI GET, as well as high-level representatives from Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, AFD, GIZ, and KFW, according to a press release issued by the EU delegation in Bangladesh on Wednesday. Md Mostafa Kamal, Additional Secretary, Renewable Energy, Power Division, Ministry of Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources (MoPEMR), and Md Golam Mostofa, Additional Secretary, Member Admin, Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development Authority, also attended the visit (SREDA). During the visit’s discussion meeting, Johannes Schneider, Germany’s Head of Development Cooperation, emphasized the EU Member States’ shared interest in assisting Bangladesh in meeting their national goals and international commitments in the field of renewable energy through the Team Europe Initiative.
TEI GET, which will be launched in Dhaka in June 2021, aims to assist Bangladesh in developing a power system that meets 100 per cent of the country’s energy demand through renewable energy while reducing GHG emissions, energy consumption, and demand through energy efficiency.
