According to local suppliers’ estimate exports in the next summer might go up by 20 to 30 per cent while the production for the season runs from September to March.
Bakhtiar Uddin Ahmed, chief operating officer of Narayanganj-based Fakir Apparels informed monthly exports from Fakir Apparels varied between $10 million and $11 million over the past one year while now it can go up to $13 million to $14 million from September.
On the other hand, Narayanganj-based Kappa Fashion Wear Ltd has received 25 per cent higher work orders from its buyers for the next season as it used to export garment items worth Tk 100 crore per month and stand at Tk 75 crore per month now.
According to EPB, woven items saw a 4.47 per cent growth after a 17.78 per cent fall in July year-on-year.
