The government has taken the decision to keep the maximum retail price (MRP) of edible oil at Tk 153 a litre, which was the same price set in May.
After meeting with the officials of the Bangladesh Vegetable Oil Refiners and Vanaspati Manufacturers Association, the Ministry of Commerce made the announcement.
Bottled soybean oil price was set at Tk 153 per litre, on the other hand, the 5-litre jar will cost Tk 728.
In addition to that, the price of loose soybean oil has been set at Tk 129, while the MRP of loose super palm oil has been set at Tk 116 per litre.
Previously, on May 27, the refiners raised the price of edible oil by Tk 9 per litre, increasing the price of bottled soybean oil to Tk 153 per litre from Tk 144.
Later on, in July, the rate was reduced by Tk 4 per little to Tk 149, taking into consideration the purchasing capacity of the consumers ahead of Eid-ul-Azha during the coronavirus pandemic.
