The government has cleared all arrears under various export-incentive schemes for the current fiscal year, easing exporters’ liquidity concerns amid rising raw material and production costs.
This was the fourth and final installment of cash incentives for the fiscal year 2021-2022. According to a finance division circular issued on Monday, export-oriented sectors such as readymade garments, frozen fish and shrimp, leather items, jute and jute products, and agro-processed items will benefit from the funds. The latest installment also includes a special 1 per cent cash incentive support fund for the RMG industry.
As an export incentive, the government previously paid Tk5,700 crore in arrears. Currently, the government offers a 1 to 20 per cent cash incentive on the export of 38 products.
