The Bangladesh government has allocated 23% of its Annual Development Programme (ADP) funds to 10 large projects for the next fiscal year, including the Rooppur nuclear power plant. The National Economic Council (NEC) has increased the ADP fund for 2023-24 by 6.8% to Tk 2,63,000 crore, with Tk 60,054 crore allocated to the 10 large projects. The Rooppur power plant project received the highest allocation at Tk 9,707 crore. The Matarbari coal-fired power plant project was allocated Tk 9,081.49 crore, and Tk 8,586 crore was assigned to a fourth primary education development programme. The utilization of foreign funds increased by 59.35% in the first ten months of the current fiscal year. The NEC also approved a list of 1,245 new projects for the next ADP, which will receive funding once they are approved at an Executive Committee on the National Economic Council (Ecnec) meeting.
