The Ministry of Finance in Bangladesh has directed all government departments and ministries to release funds against their dues and submit bills by June 25th to the finance ministry authority, as the current fiscal year is nearing its end. The directive was issued in a circular by the ministry’s budget wing, which also set June 12th as the cut-off date for fund release under the operating and development budgets. The last date for submitting new expenditure bills is June 14th, and the last date for submitting bills given back for resubmission is June 20th. By June 25th, the cheques must be issued, and payment for goods imported under the operating and development budgets must be made. The central bank will not allow opening letters of credit beyond June 25th against budgetary allocation for FY 2022-23. The government offices may remain closed for the last few days of June due to the Eid-ul-Azha festival, so the last dates for bill submission and fund release are set a few days earlier than usual.
