Turkish Brand Kale Ceramic Enters Bangladesh Market

Turkish ceramic tile giant Kale Ceramics has entered the Bangladeshi market through a launch event in Dhaka organized by its local partner, Shanta Lifestyle. The event showcased Kale’s premier tile collections such as Kalesinterflex, Italian Marble, and Royal Marble series, along with sanitaryware.

The products will be available in four categories: ceramic tiles, ceramic sanitaryware, faucets, and bathroom furniture. Shanta Lifestyle aims to position Kale as a key player in Bangladesh’s porcelain tile and sanitaryware segment, emphasizing innovation, sustainability, and environmental friendliness. With more than 4,500 diverse products and an annual production capacity of 56 million square meters, Kale Ceramics is a major global player.

The largest mobile operator in Bangladesh, Grameenphone, claimed an increase of 6% in sales to Tk 4,223 crore in Q2 2024, despite a 28 percent decrease in profit to Tk 861 crore. LafargeHolcim Bangladesh Limited (LHBL) reported a 33% decline in profit for the first half of 2024, with profits falling to Tk 243 crore from Tk 361.5 crore in the same period last year. The company attributed this decline to a 5% reduction in net sales revenue, which decreased to Tk 1,442 crore due to macroeconomic challenges and industry de-growth. Operating earnings before interest and taxes dropped 25% to Tk 346.6 crore, impacted by increased costs and the sharp devaluation of the local currency against the US dollar. The company's CEO emphasized ongoing efforts in sales channel expansion, performance improvement, digitalization, and waste management through 'Geocycle.'
