Unilever Consumer Care re-appoints Masud Khan as chairman

Masud Khan has been reappointed as the chairman of Unilever Consumer Care Ltd, a subsidiary of Unilever, according to an official statement. This decision was made during a recent board meeting. Masud Khan has been fulfilling the role of chairman for Unilever Consumer Care since July 2020.

With a remarkable 43 years of professional experience, Masud Khan has worked in various multinational and local companies in Bangladesh. Currently, he serves as the chief advisor of the board at Crown Cement Group Bangladesh. Previously, he held the position of chief financial officer at LafargeHolcim Bangladesh for 18 years. Moreover, he accumulated 20 years of experience in finance and related fields at British American Tobacco, both domestically and internationally.Additionally, he acts as an independent director and heads the audit committee for Singer Bangladesh and Community Bank. Throughout his extensive career, he has also served as an independent director and head of the audit committee for Marico Bangladesh, Berger Paints Bangladesh, and Viyallatex Ltd.

Ginger Retail Prices Soar Fourfold Above Import Rates

The price of ginger in Bangladesh has increased by 180% in the past year due to a decrease in imports, a shortage of supply, and increased demand. The government is taking steps to address the price hike by importing ginger and encouraging farmers to grow more ginger. However, the price of ginger is expected to remain high in the near future.

In the last four and a half months, 53 importers imported 6,863 tonnes of ginger at an average rate of Tk 70 per kg through the Teknaf land port.
