Unique Hotel Clinches Gold at ICAB National Award

Bangladesh Bank has won the "AFI Global Youth Financial Inclusion Award 2024" for promoting financial inclusion among the country's youth. The award, conferred by the Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI) at its Global Policy Forum in El Salvador, recognized the central bank's initiatives such as developing financial literacy guidelines, creating a start-up fund for young entrepreneurs, launching a financial literacy website, and opening 4.3 lakh school bank accounts.

Grameenphone and local handset manufacturer Symphony have launched a co-branded smartphone called the ATOM5. Made in Bangladesh, the ATOM5 features a 6.75" HD+ display, a 1.6GHz Octa-Core Processor, 8GB RAM (with 4GB expandable), 64GB ROM, a 52MP dual rear camera, and a 5000mAh battery. The collaboration aims to enhance people's lives by leveraging internet technology throughout the country.

UCB Investment has been honored as the "Best Investment Bank in Bangladesh" by both the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2024 and the Finance Asia Award 2024. This marks the second consecutive year the merchant bank has received these accolades. Sharif Zahir, Chairman of United Commercial Bank (UCB), praised the recognitions as a testament to client trust and a motivation for continued excellence.

Luxury hotels in Dhaka are still struggling to return to normal operations as foreign and local clients remain hesitant to travel due to ongoing instability. Although the situation has slightly improved since mid-July, when protests against the government’s job quota system peaked, occupancy rates remain low. 

Bank Asia has been honored with the ʻOverall Winnerʼ title at the 24th ICAB National Awards, securing first place in all three categories: Private Sector Banks, Corporate Governance Disclosures, and Integrated Reporting. The award was presented to Chairman Romo Rouf Chowdhury by Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, Honourable Adviser to the Ministries of Finance, Commerce, and Science & Technology, on September 10, 2024, at Hotel Pan Pacific Sonargaon, Dhaka.

Dhaka Bank PLC received a Certificate of Merit from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) in the Best Presented Annual Reports: Private Sector Banks category for its 2023 Annual Report. The award was presented on September 10, 2024, at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka.
