The Covid positivity rate in Bangladesh is under 7 per cent, however some places have a Covid positivity rate between 10 per cent and 20 per cent while others see a fluctuating positivity rate which occasionally reaches 10 per cent.
According to data published by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 3 districts have seen a positivity rate over 20 per cent. These are Cox’s Bazar at 28 per cent, Faridpur at 28 per cent and Thakurgaon at 23 per cent.
High cluster transmission has also been seen at Munshiganj, Gazipur, Sirajganj, Jhenidah, Panchagarh, Sherpur, Bandarban, Kushtia, Cumilla and Chandpur.
Furthermore, 16 other districts reported 10 per cent or higher transmission on Sunday with half of them reporting 15 per cent or above.
An Epidemiologist at the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR), stated that cluster cases can lead to higher infections.
