LafargeHolcim will award professionals who can showcase sustainable construction solutions along with architectural excellence. It announced the sixth cycle of the international Awards competition that offers a total of USD 2.0 million in prize money.
The design competition seeks projects and concepts from architecture, engineering, urban planning, materials and construction technology, and related fields.
The criteria include:
- Innovation and transferability
- Ethical standards and social inclusion
- Resource and environmental performance
- Economic viability and compatibility
- Contextual and aesthetic impact
- Reduction of carbon emissions
- Tackling increasing urbanisation
The competition closes on 25th February next year. Independent expert juries in five geographic regions of the world evaluate submissions using the comprehensive “target issues” for sustainable construction of the LafargeHolcim Foundation.
The competition also promotes circular thinking and the reduction of CO2 emissions across all disciplines. It identifies the ideas with the highest potential to tackle today’s challenges to increasing urbanization and to improve quality of life.
Since 2003, the LafargeHolcim Foundation has been advancing the discourse on sustainable construction mainly through these Awards, the world’s most significant competition for sustainable design.
