The Bangladesh Bank on April 21 has granted permission to the non-bank financial institution to operate for 4 hours in the week of April 22-28, which will exclude the holidays from other government holidays.
The two branches of each NBFI, one in Dhaka and the other outside of Dhaka, would be allowed to remain operational from 10 am to 2 pm, as mentioned by the BB circular.
The concerning department of the head office of the financial institutions will also remain operational during the restriction of movement.
Restrictions were imposed by the government and business activities in April 14-21 in an attempt to contain the sudden rise in coronavirus infections and deaths in the country. On April, 20 the restrictions were extended by the government until April 28.
During the movement restrictions, banks have been operating for 3 hours, from 10 am to 1pm.
NBFIs have been allowed by the Bangladesh Bank to facilitate customers’ fixed deposit encashment and receive instalments from customers in April 22-28.
The central bank has thus stated that the NBFIs would have to maintain the health and safety guidelines by providing services to the customers along with making sure that the presence of the required manpower based on their own judgement for providing services to the customers.
Besides the banks and the NBFIs, only seven departments of the Bangladesh Bank have been operating during the restriction period.
