Vehicles in eight northern districts are unable to receive fuel oil to operate their wheels because the supply of fuel oil was banned after Eid-ul-Fitr, creating widespread misery.
According to petrol station owners, Chattogram through Khulna supplies petrol, octane, and diesel to the railway head depot in Parbatipur, Dinajpur, to meet the demand of eight districts in the northern region.
After Eid, the officials in charge failed to send even one liter of petrol to the depot, resulting in a massive gasoline shortage in the region. The next cargo of fuel oil will not arrive at Parbatipur depot, according to a local Petrobangla official.
Before Eid, Petrobangla had delivered two lakh liters of petrol from Khulna to Dinajpur depot. On the other hand, on Sunday (May 8), it supplied the same amount of octane, which was insufficient to meet demand.
Imran, the head depot manager in Parbatipur, said there are 125 petrol stations in eight northern districts. Oil tankers from these pumps are queueing for oil at the depot. To accommodate demand for fuel oil, Petrobangla established a head depot at Parbatipur rail station to deliver fuel oil to eight northern districts.
