The Minister for the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOH&FW) has stated that the government is considering vaccinating children over 12 years old with Pfizer and Moderna vaccines since the Covid positivity rate fell under 10 per cent in 3 months with a meeting scheduled on Sunday.
From August 1 to September 4, the Covid positivity rate was 29.97 per cent to 9.82 per cent with a small spike in August 16 and August 29 at 23 and 15 per cent, respectively. The use of Moderna and Pfizer vaccines for children has been approved by both the World Health Organization (WHO) for children over 12 years of age and US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for children between 12 and 15 years.
The government is considering reopening all educational institutions on September 12. It has also planned to procure 16.5 Crore doses of vaccines by next December and January.
