Merchant bankers have pledged to take the required actions to persuade portfolio managers and their clients to infuse their investable capital into the market in order to stabilize it.
BMBA (Bangladesh Merchant Bankers Association) gave the guarantee on Tuesday during a meeting with senior Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission officials (BSEC). The gathering covered the topic of some merchant banks and portfolio managers who had previously put pressure on sales having investable capital.
The conference was arranged by the BSEC as part of its initiative to engage with the stakeholders and stabilize the stock market of the nation. The BMBA representatives gave their full backing to stabilize the stock market throughout the meeting.
The BSEC representative claimed that the merchant bankers discussed the “inactive” funds of numerous investors who had previously offloaded securities. Many large clients of merchant bankers have dormant accounts, the participants in the discussion reported.
