As the pandemic brought disruptions in the supply chain Khan Brothers PP Woven Bag Industries Ltd is seeing less business. It is running its production on a limited scale to supply polypropylene (PP) woven bags which constitutes 10 per cent of its total production. The secretary of the company also stated that the company has stopped receiving orders from foreign buyers.
The sector as a whole is suffering amid reopening the economy where it has seen a 50 per cent decline in its exports amid the 50 per cent price increase of raw materials and shipping costs.
The sector sells PP woven bags, flexible intermediate bulk container bags, recyclable and reusable shopping bags, and tarpaulin bags which are used for packaging cement, poultry and aqua feed, food grain, and seed.
