BB eases CMSMEs’ audited financial report storing legislation

To promote order and transparency in the loan disbursement process for CMSMEs, Bangladesh Bank (BB) has changed its direction to preserve audited financial records of loan renewals and files of new loans in compliance with the laws. The deadline for renewing loans to CMSMEs has been moved from January 1 of 2023 to January 1 of 2025. The emphasis of the new directions is to quicken the nation’s economic activity while taking into account the state of the global economy and enhancing the flow of credit to the CMSME sector.

Ramadan hours for banks are 9:30 am to 4:00 pm

Ramadan in Bangladesh, which could start the following week depending on the sighting of the moon, will last from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm every working day. 9:30am to 2:30pm will be the hours during which people can do banking transactions, according to a central bank notification that was released today.

After Ramadan, office and banking hours will resume following their previous schedule, according to Bangladesh Bank.

In the nation, customers are frequently permitted to complete transactions between 10:00am and 3:30pm. Also, banks must stop all operational activity each working day by 5:00 p.m.

HSBC remarked as ‘Market Leader’ by Euromoney survey

According to a Euromoney Trade Finance Study 2023, The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited (HSBC) is the “Market Leader” in Bangladesh.

In addition, the poll revealed that HSBC leads the world in trade financing and holds the top positions in Asia Pacific, Latin America, North America, and the Middle East.

Euromoney is an English-language monthly magazine focused on business and finance. The survey findings are based on a poll conducted among the businesses engaged in international trade, says a press release yesterday.

The chief executive of HSBC Bangladesh, Md. Mahbub ur Rahman, stated that the company aims to remain the top trade bank while meeting the demands of its clients and introducing them to a wide range of prospects.

EBL signs agreement with Renaissance Dhaka Gulshan Hotel

An agreement between Eastern Bank Ltd (EBL) and Renaissance Dhaka Gulshan Hotel has been signed. Holders of EBL cards are eligible for exclusive perks at the hotel under this contract.

A customer benefit agreement was recently signed in Dhaka by Md Bin Mazid Khan, head of Bancassurance, Student Banking & Retail Propositions at Eastern Bank Ltd (EBL), and Noeke Kusuma, general manager of Renaissance Dhaka Gulshan Hotel. Among those present at the event were Syed Yameenul Huq, director, of Sales and Marketing of Renaissance Dhaka Gulshan Hotel, and Md Al-Amin, hotel manager and in-charge of Sales and Marketing.

BASIC Bank launches ‘Magpie’ app

To make the financial system more inclusive and accessible to the public, state-owned BASIC Bank Limited introduced its “Magpie” app and client onboarding platform “BASIC i-Account,” both of which are digital platforms for banking services.

In a ceremony on Tuesday (March 14) at the bank’s headquarters in Dhaka, Sheikh Mohammad Salim Ullah, secretary, Financial Institutions Division, Ministry of Finance, inaugurated the services as the chief guest.

All financial services—including banking—are available on the app. The Magpie App offers a variety of banking services, including e-KYC based bank account opening without branch support, direct fund transfers to other banks through EFT, RTGS, and NPSB, add money, e-commerce/merchant payment, credit card bill payment, utility bill payment, ticketing and remittance service, and more. Also, the app allows you to add any card, account, or mobile banking service account, transfer money from any VISA or MasterCard, shop using a QR code, recharge your phone, instantly check your balance, pay your tuition, and get a card/account statement.

Padma Bank Limited to participate in Dhaka Motor Show

AB Bank disburses loan to 1400 farmers in Tungipara

About 1400 marginal farmers in Tungipara, the hometown of Bangladesh’s founding president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, received agricultural loans from AB Bank Limited. The loan disbursement program was organized at Govt Sheikh Mujibur Rahman University College.

The event’s primary guest was Sheikh Abul Bashar Khair, president of the Tungipara Upazila Awami League. Mayor of the Tungipara Municipality Sheikh Tozammel Haque Tutul, general secretary of the Tungipara Upazila Awami League Md. Babul Sheikh, and head of the Patgati Union Parishad Sheikh Sukur Ahmed were in attendance as distinguished guests.

AB Bank Limited president and managing director Tarique Afzal presided over the programme.  According to him their aim is to strengthen the country’s ongoing development through this programme.
