BASIC Bank launches ‘Magpie’ app

To make the financial system more inclusive and accessible to the public, state-owned BASIC Bank Limited introduced its “Magpie” app and client onboarding platform “BASIC i-Account,” both of which are digital platforms for banking services.

In a ceremony on Tuesday (March 14) at the bank’s headquarters in Dhaka, Sheikh Mohammad Salim Ullah, secretary, Financial Institutions Division, Ministry of Finance, inaugurated the services as the chief guest.

All financial services—including banking—are available on the app. The Magpie App offers a variety of banking services, including e-KYC based bank account opening without branch support, direct fund transfers to other banks through EFT, RTGS, and NPSB, add money, e-commerce/merchant payment, credit card bill payment, utility bill payment, ticketing and remittance service, and more. Also, the app allows you to add any card, account, or mobile banking service account, transfer money from any VISA or MasterCard, shop using a QR code, recharge your phone, instantly check your balance, pay your tuition, and get a card/account statement.

Team Group raises the bar for RMG production

With the help of a digital product named “Nidle” which includes a small manufacturing execution system, The Team Group, a top garment manufacturer in the nation, has been able to raise its production by up to 12%. In order to improve efficiency and quality and decrease production waste, manufacturers can use this smart solution to track, optimize, and digitize their operations in a real-time dashboard from any location.

In 2020, The Team Group’s LEED Platinum-rated outerwear manufacturing facility 4A Yarn Dyeing Ltd. conducted the first Nidle pilot. Nidle helped 4A Yarn Dyeing Ltd. become 10% to 12% more productive. In response, Team has also been putting the idea into practice in addition to the group’s other clothing issues.

OPPO launches Reno8-T in Bangladesh

OPPO has recently announced the OPPO Reno 8 T, which features a fibreglass-leather stitch design, 48-month fluency protection, a certified SGS eye care display, Color OS 13, a 90 Hz refresh rate, and a 5000 mAh battery with 33 W SUPERVOOC.

The smartphone has a 100 MP portrait camera, a 40x micro lens, a 2 MP depth camera, a 32 MP front camera, and capabilities including bokeh flare portrait, selfie HDR, and AI portrait retouching.

Audi Bangladesh Enters Electronic Vehicle Era

Audi’s E-Tron was the first electric car to be registered in Bangladesh under the Electric Vehicle (EV) category, and on March 4, Audi Bangladesh launched the country’s first electric charging station.
Audi Bangladesh collaborated with Siemens, a business that specialises in electric vehicle charging stations, to make the charging stations a reality. The charging station features two power outlets, allowing two vehicles to be charged at the same time.
The station itself is a rapid charging station, and according to Audi Bangladesh, charging a single car will charge 60 watts. A standard Audi E-Tron can be fully charged in 1 hour 30 minutes.

Robi’s r-ventures 3.0 contest concludes successfully

The grand finale round of Robi’s flagship digital entrepreneurship competition, r-ventures 3.0, took place on March 5 and eight start-ups were promised financing totaling more than Tk 8 crore.

According to a press statement from Robi Axiata Ltd., RedDot Digital Ltd, a Robi Axiata Ltd. subsidiary and sponsor of the r-ventures private equity fund, invested more than Tk 2 crore in four digital start-ups. At the same time, four start-ups would get Tk 3.5 crore from SBK Tech Ventures and angel investor Kaniz Almas Khan. Startup Bangladesh Ltd, the ICT Division’s venture capital fund, also promised to invest Tk 2.5 crore in the start-ups. The state minister also disclosed that the ICT Division would give Tk 10 lakh to each of the top 11 teams in the tournament.

Eleven digital start-ups participated in the Grand Finale, which was held in the Hotel Sheraton Dhaka in the capital after a thorough screening process.
