Premier Cement announces 10 percent cash dividend

For the fiscal year 2021–2022, Premier Cement Mills PLC has announced a 10% cash dividend for its shareholders. 

The company recorded a net asset value per share of Tk67.13 and a consolidated loss per share of Tk10.70 for the year. From July to September of 2022, the company lost Tk2.53 per share, but from October to December of that same year, it turned a profit.

Although, compared to the same time the year before, earnings per share fell by 36% to Tk0.07 from Tk0.11.

Ceramic Industry Urges Customs Duty Reform

During a pre-budget discussion, the Bangladesh Ceramic Manufacturers and Exporters Association proposed removing the existing 15% supplementary duty on local tile production and 10% supplementary duty on local sanitary product production. They suggested introducing a 1% flat import tax rate on raw industrial materials. The BCMEA emphasized the need to exclude waste materials from customs duty calculations, claiming that China clay and ball clay contain about 30 to 35% waste.
