Robi’s profit declined due to the Forex crisis

Robi Axiata, a mobile phone provider, won’t have earned an additional Tk 178 crore in profit in 2022 due to the significant decrease in the local currency’s value against the US dollar.

The company, which operates under the brands Robi and Airtel, attracted 8 lakh new users in the year ending in December. There are 5.44 crore subscribers right now. The company’s board recommended a 7 percent cash dividend for its stockholders for 2022, up from a 5 percent payout in 2021.

According to the price-sensitive information, the company’s earnings per share in 2022 were Tk 0.35, up from Tk 0.34 in the previous year. Robi contributed to the government exchequer 60.5% of its revenue in the fourth quarter of 2022.
