Focusing on the three occasions spring festival, valentine’s day, and international mother language day, Sreepur’s florist and traders projected flower sales worth  Tk 50 lakh. The prices have increased despite the surplus of flowers, florists said. In the upazila, prices have risen during the past two weeks. The cost of roses in retail stores jumped last week from Tk 20–30 to Tk 50–70, while it was being offered at a wholesale price of Tk 40–50.
According to an agriculture officer for Sreepur Upazila, this season, flowers have been grown on 4,000 hectares of land in the upazila. Indian shots, marigolds, dahlias, and roses are some of the most commonly nurtured flowers in the upazila. The agriculture administration is working with the farmers to increase production, pointing out that the land and environment of Sreepur are suited for flower growing.
