Over the last few days, the costs of rice, atta, and eggs have risen much more in the capital.According to traders, millers raised the price of rice due to a rise in paddy prices, while consumer goods processing and manufacturing corporations, which control the market, raised the price of atta.On the city market, rice prices have risen by Tk 2–4 per kg in the last two days.
On Sunday, coarse-variety rice sold for Tk 50–52 per kg in the capital.
The BR-28 variant, also known as the lower-grade miniket, was sold for Tk 58–62 a kilogram, while the medium-quality item was sold for Tk 54–58 a kg.In the city on the day, the fine miniket type sold for Tk 65–68 per kg, while the premium-quality miniket sold for Tk 70–75 per kg.On the day, the fine-variety Najirshail cost Tk 80 per kilogram, while the premium quality cost Tk 85 per kg.A few of corporate organizations control the atta market, and they have boosted the price of the item by Tk 6-8 per kilogram in the last two days.
On Sunday, unpackaged atta cost Tk 45–50 per kg, while packaged atta cost Tk 55–58 per kg in retail shops.According to retailers, the price of a two-kg bag of atta was recently set at Tk 108–115.’A number of cooperative houses have begun to sell rice. They are hoarding paddy and selling packed rice at inflated costs on the market,’ Sadhan Chandra added.On Sunday, the price of eggs increased by Tk 2 per hali (four pieces), with the item selling for Tk 42–43 per hali in the city.
