On his return from India on Friday, Abbas Ali, 42, a resident of Daora village in Shailkupa upazila of Jhenaidah was admitted to Jessore General Hospital with probable monkeypox symptoms. On June 3, Abbas Ali, 42, a resident of Daora village in Jhenaidah’s Shailkupa upazila, traveled to India. Raju Ahmed, officer-in-Charge (OC) of Benapole Immigration Police, stated he returned through Benapole this afternoon.
He claimed that Abbas was transported to the hospital after immigration officials detected sores on his body during the inspection. Nothing can be established before medical tests, according to Dr. Mohsina Akhter Rumpa, health officer of Benapole basic health care center.
On June 7, a Turkish person with suspected monkeypox symptoms was taken to the hospital after arriving at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. However, he was released from the hospital after tests revealed that he did not have the monkeypox virus. On May 22, the government directed the relevant agencies to increase monitoring at land, air, and sea ports for tourists arriving in Bangladesh from countries where monkeypox cases had been confirmed. In this regard, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) issued a notice.
