The state minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources (MPEMR) has directed authorities for a formulation a customer-friendly electric vehicle (EV) recharging policy. While stressing the need for such a policy, the state minister stated that EVs will dominate the future transport sector.
He further stated that EVs reduce transportation costs to Tk1,250 from a petrol-run vehicle to travel 1,000km at Tk5,375. The mechanical efficiency of electric vehicles is higher than that of petrol-run vehicles.
He also directed the power distribution companies to form a separate team to tackle the issue of the electric vehicle recharging system.
