The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) will provide over Tk2.3 crore ($2,44,680) in emergency funding to flood-affected families and communities. The assistance is being provided in response to record-breaking rainfall and catastrophic flooding in northern Bangladesh. Over the last 50 years, the United States has provided more than $8 billion in assistance to Bangladesh.
In just one year, USAID provided more than $120 million in humanitarian assistance and an additional $200 million to improve people’s lives in Bangladesh through programs that increase food security and economic opportunity, improve health and education, promote democratic institutions and practices, protect the environment, and increase resilience to climate change.
