Businesses have urged the government to lower the import duty on solar panels for industrial use to 1 %, aiming to support the national roadmap for renewable energy production. Currently, the import duty on solar panels ranges from 43 %Â to 58.60 %, which businesses argue is prohibitively expensive for industrial units.
This demand was voiced during a meeting with the adviser to the prime minister for power, energy, and mineral resources, at the Prime Minister’s Office in Dhaka. Leaders from the BGMEA, BTMA, BKMEA, and other business chambers participated. The meeting was led by the senior vice president of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI).
