Bangladesh Bank officials are dissatisfied with recent cancellations of job benefits by the banking watchdog. The Bangladesh Bank Officers’ Welfare Council, representing these officials, is urging the central bank governor to restore the benefits promptly. Recent cancellations include recreation allowances, additional increments based on training results, and allowances for training academy officers. Additionally, the bank announced the cessation of sending officers for special training abroad and withholding additional increments for first-class officers based on academic results. The officials argue that such reductions come at a time when central bankers globally enjoy better salary structures. The council plans a meeting to decide on their course of action and intends to officially communicate their concerns to the Bangladesh Bank Governor. Despite attempts, the Bangladesh Bank Executive Director and Spokesperson remained unavailable for comments.
