The upcoming budget may introduce a new requirement mandating the submission of annual income tax returns before renting a community center or auditorium for any event. This means that individuals and organizations will need to provide a copy of their tax return to secure a rental, otherwise, the event cannot take place. This initiative aims to expand the compulsory filing of tax returns for various public and private services, thereby increasing taxpayer compliance. Currently, 43 services already require proof of tax return submission, and this measure will add to that list. The National Board of Revenue (NBR) is also considering lifting the tax holiday on large infrastructure projects to further boost tax return submissions. This policy will apply to all types of events held at these venues, including meetings, seminars, and social events such as weddings and anniversaries.
