In April, Bangladesh saw substantial growth in both mobile internet users and mobile subscribers. The number of mobile internet users increased by approximately 3.89 million, while mobile subscribers rose by 1.47 million, as reported by the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC).
This surge brought the total number of internet subscribers to a record 138.59 million. This growth marks a significant turnaround after six months of continuous decline in mobile internet subscribers. The trend began to reverse in February when the number of subscribers increased by 1.17 million.
During this period, the total number of mobile subscribers reached 193.73 million by the end of April. Grameenphone, the largest operator, added 730,000 new subscribers, bringing its total to 83.95 million. Robi Axiata gained 444,000 new users, reaching 58.51 million subscribers. Banglalink Digital Communications saw an increase of 290,000 users, totalling 44.72 million subscribers. The state-owned operator Teletalk added 2,000 new subscribers, bringing its total to 6.55 million.
