The Dhaka Stock Exchange’s benchmark index, DSEX, fell below 5,100 points today, reaching a 42-month low. The index dropped by 35 points, closing at 5,070, marking a continued decline for the third consecutive day following the budget announcement. This decline brings the DSEX to its lowest level since December 2020. Additionally, the blue-chip index DS30 fell by 8 points to close at 1,803, also the lowest since 2020. Out of 394 traded issues, 51 advanced, 308 declined, and 35 remained unchanged. The ongoing trend of investors offloading their holdings due to fears of capital erosion has led to a market capitalisation drop of around Tk 16,000 crore over the past three days.
