The government’s tax revenue from property registration is expected to nearly double by the end of the current fiscal year, thanks to enhanced monitoring and improved accessibility of registration services. This growth is anticipated to receive a further boost from a proposed budgetary provision allowing undisclosed income to be invested in plots and flats. Revenue from property registration, which exceeded Tk15,124 crore in the first nine months of FY24, is projected to reach Tk22,000 crore by the end of the fiscal year, up from Tk11,600 crore in FY22. The proposed national budget for FY2024-25 sets a revenue collection target of Tk5,41,000 crore, with Tk4,80,000 crore from NBR taxes, Tk15,000 crore from non-NBR taxes, and Tk46,000 crore from non-tax revenue.
