In a parliamentary session, it was revealed that approximately 41.78 percent of Bangladesh’s registered mobile connections are inactive. Out of the total 33.27 crore registered SIMs, 13.9 crore are inactive, leaving 19.37 crore active SIMs. This data highlights the significant portion of mobile connections not used in the country. The report emerged during a question and answer session, addressing concerns about the status of mobile connections. It was also mentioned that the current mobile call rates were established in 2018 following a comprehensive market review and socio-economic analysis. These call rates have remained unchanged since then, reflecting the findings of the review conducted at that time. This information provides insight into the state of mobile connectivity in Bangladesh and the regulatory measures in place for mobile call rates.
