The Central Intelligence Cell of Bangladesh’s revenue board has directed all banks to provide bank details of Sadeeq Agro Limited (SAL) and its owners within a week. SAL, established in 2017, faces scrutiny for not submitting tax returns despite fines from Tax Zone-2. The investigation seeks details like loan accounts, mortgage assets, savings certificates, and deposits. The company’s non-compliance led to investigations into its operations, including two food outlets in Gulshan and Banani. SAL also drew attention for selling a Tk1.2 million goat to a former NBR officer’s son, prompting Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) scrutiny. ACC found SAL importing banned Brahman cattle and medicine, with raids uncovering irregularities at its farms in Keraniganj and Savar. Dhaka North City Corporation demolished an illegal structure at SAL’s Ramchandrapur canal site, noting it operated without a trade license. Legal actions loom for SAL’s owner over prohibited imports and false customs declarations.
