Nargis Anwar, the founder of Mercantile Bank Plc, a listed company in the capital market, has purchased 1 million shares of the bank at the existing market price on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on June 6, as per DSE sources. As of 2004, Mercantile Bank’s approved capital stands at Tk 12 billion with paid-up capital at Tk 10.65 billion, supported by reserves of Tk 5.28 billion. The bank manages a total of 11.065 billion shares, with 34.11% held by promoters, 26.75% by institutional investors, 8.85% by foreign investors, and 38.29% by general investors. Recent market transactions have valued Mercantile Bank shares at Tk 10 each, marking a significant increase from Tk 8.70 to Tk 13.90 per share over the past year. For the fiscal year ending December 31, 2023, the bank declared a 10% cash dividend and enhanced its EPS to Tk 2.86 from Tk 2.12 in the previous year. The ANAVPS stood at Tk 23.91, up from Tk 23.71, and the NAVPS increased to Tk 4.80 from Tk 4.73.
