The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) has approved several procurement proposals to address the country’s growing demand. The Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) will acquire 40,000 tonnes of DAP fertilizer from Saudi Arabia at approximately Tk 259.60 crore, costing $550 per ton. The Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) will buy 30,000 tonnes of bagged granular urea fertilizer from KAFCO for around Tk 116.90 crore ($330.50 per ton) and another 30,000 tonnes of bulk granular urea from Fertiglobe Distribution Limited, UAE, at about Tk 121.48 crore ($343.17 per ton). Additionally, BCIC will procure 10,000 tonnes of phosphoric acid from China at approximately Tk 66.69 crore, with a cost of $570 per ton. The Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB) will purchase around 24,300 SPC poles each from three different suppliers, totaling around Tk 229.94 crore for modernization and capacity enhancement in Khulna Division. The CCGP also approved two projects each from the Power Division and the ICT Division.
