Following Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s resignation, unrest has led to significant supply chain disruptions, impacting traders, consumers, and farmers. Wholesalers at Kawran Bazar have highlighted issues with pickups and trucks carrying vegetables and goods, which are unable to reach the market due to blocked entry points into Dhaka. They fear substantial losses if trucks are delayed by one or two days, as many goods may spoil and become unsellable. In the meantime, prices have surged: onions rose to Tk 120 per kilogram from Tk 116 a week ago, pointed gourd increased to Tk 80 per kilogram from Tk 60, and rice prices have risen by Tk 2 to Tk 3 per kilogram.
