The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) saw a significant increase in average daily turnover, rising by 53.57% to Tk 1,282.2 crore from Tk 834.9 crore the previous week, as investors sold shares for short-term gains. Despite higher participation, the DSE’s benchmark index fell by 20.97 points, closing at 5,903. The Shariah-based DSES index and the DS30 blue-chip index also declined.
Telecommunication stocks led sectoral gains, up 15.91%, followed by life insurance (6.96%) and food & allied (3.46%). In contrast, paper and printing, jute, and ceramics sectors posted the largest losses, with paper and printing down by 8.97%. Grameenphone was the most traded stock, while Islamic Finance and Investment saw the highest gain of 47.27%. QB Ball Pen suffered the largest decline, dropping 13.99% over the week.
